Here are the meeting notes from the BLIA annual meeting, held at TJ's Feb 5th, 2009:
- Start: 7:16pm. 30 people in attendance. Appetizers served.
- Intros and Remarks from Brian Hall
- Treasurer's Report: $7149 in available funds. Running low due to fish stocking and chemical purchases. No update on nonprofit status-IRS still working on processing paperwork. This may negatively impact grant from Best Buy.
- Milfoil Treatment Update from Elaine
- Kris presented the application she prepared for Beebe Lake's inclusion in a new test to halt the growth of Curly Leaf Pond Weed. We were rejected because we do not have an aquatic plant survey of the lake completed.
- Sandy discussed details on the Wine Tasting Fundraiser.
- The 2009 Meeting Schedule was developed. With minor exceptions we will stick to the first Thursday of the month meeting times. Look for the BLIA signs as a reminder. Also, a newsletter was sent to members' home with the 2009 schedule included.
- A discussion of lakescaping was tabled until next meeting.
- Old/New Business:
- A $300 request was approved to pay for monthly lake monitoring sample analysis
- A discussion regarding runoff testing resulted in the decision to video tape runoff during spring rainstorms.
- Flooridone testing was discussed as a potential treatment plan to control curly leaf pond weed. As mentioned earlier, we need a aquatic plan survey to get into a DNR study.
- Brian will meet with the city to review the danger posed by the open culvert.
- The unfinished house was discussed. Need the city's help in dealing with the issue.
